..cyclists rest and hit the beach.
Today is Sunday, which means just one thing. The bike shop is closed. So in the spirit of 'everything happens for a reason' I've accepted that today I have 'no choice' (it's a tough decision but somebody's got to take it !) but to stay another day here, check out the beaches, and generally have a day off the bike.
I find myself feeling at home here. I had a similar feeling in yorktown va in America at the end of my
Trans American Cycle crossing. I have met really good and interesting people here and although I will move on again soon I will carry this place, my new friends, the good times, and the mountain with me.
Also staying at Paris' place was Renata a fashion label director and singer from Warsaw. We got talking and decided to walk along to '
ladies mile' beach and have lunch. It was a much longer walk than we anticipated, but just as we thought we may need to change plans , as usual, something good happened. A bloke in a flash BMW ,without a goat, offered us a lift. Arriving at the beach I went for a swim, we had a nice fresh fish platter in a popular local beach front restaurant and chatted like old friends. It was about five miles walk back in the heat along a dusty road, so we decided to hitch hike. The first car stopped and gave us a lift to a mile or so out of town so we only had a short walk back. Thankyou Renata for a fun afternoon, I wish you well.
Here are some pictures from a happy day here!
